Well, it's sort of a lever gun, but I just got a Ruger No.1-H in .405 with the same idea in mind. I got lucky with both the wood and the trigger, the former having a fair amount of fiddleback and the latter being surprisingly light and crisp, though with some overtravel. Twist is 1-14, just like Rugers in .416.

Max OAL with 400 Woodleighs in the stock throat is 3.215" and it looks to me like IMR3031 will be just the ticket - 49 grs is just barely uncompressed and I don't think you could get enough in to go overpressure in a No.1. Not only that, but I believe this combination will give the lightest recoil of any cartridge for 4000 fp energy with a bullet of good sectional density. More to come as I get to chronograph some loads.
