gunslinger55RCBS .505 Gibbs 3 die set
I see they have the one for $199 and special order ones for $200 a die from RCBS. What's the difference and can I get by with the "safari" line the cheaper set?
Thanks

505Gibbs2600I bought the safari set on Midway for about $200. I have been completely happy with them. Not sure what the difference would be between these and the special order ones though.

gunslinger55OK great, thanks. I saw a review where they could not seat 600 grainers, have you tried?

gunslinger55You get 2600 FPS? Just a guess....

505Gibbs2600The early sets didn't seat the 600gr Woodleigh solids. I spoke with Kent Sakamoto at RCBS, he sent me a custom seater plug and indicated that future die sets would be corrected (This was several years ago when the NRA convention was in Pittsburgh). I've fired test loads as high as 2650 fps -- love the Gibbs!

416RigbyHunterJust saw this, I bought the Safari 3 die set, it cost $400.00 here in Australia, but that's the 'Australia tax' at work. I like the set, 2 seater plug styles for round nose and cast if need be.
I have no idea why they furnish a flare die in the set, unless you intend running cast, it's pointless.
I had to buy a third press though, my original Rockchucker couldn't handle the length, so I bought a Rockchucker Supreme and the thread adaptor for the 1" dies. Works a treat so far.
I have only run the 600gr Woodleigh PP SP in mine to date, waiting on some solids to try.
Cheers.

gunslinger55OK good info, thanks. So do others have to get a new press? I have a rockchucker as well.

Dan416I have the Safari set and the Lee 50 cal press. Love them both. $195 or 198 from Natchez or Graff. I seat primers with the Lee Auto-prime, had to modify a shellholder for that though.
