Well, 500 and Ray both have good points I think. I agree that I wouldn't do a "standard" cartridge on an enfield, but that doesn't mean standard length. It is an expensive prospect, so I wouldn't waste it on something I could get off the shelf. My project one which I hope to have done sometime in 06' is going to be 458 Lott, I got what started out as a good deal on the barreled action with a lot of work done in 458win. 458 lott is a factory available chambering now, but what the heck, the barrel is a good barrel.

Now, I have what I think is a Remington (haven't pulled the bases off, but it doesn't have the duck pond) that is in 35 whelen AI that my stepfather gave me. It is such a hell of a shooter no reason to change it.

If you are going to do it and pay to have it done you are in for quite a long expensive process, might as well figure big budget at the beginning. but it'll be a treasure when you are done. I figure mine will be my only custom rifle, unless I get to where I can work on things myself.
