fla3006416 Howell- Any experience / thoughts ?
The 416 Howell looks like a good bet to me: a shortened rimless 404 Jeff case similar to the Dakota rounds, suitable for standard length actions, 416 caliber, blown out shoulder, more case capacity & potential than other short 416's, etc. I notice Dakota uses the full length 404 case for their 416 which would require a magnum action. Anyone ever build or use a rifle in this round?

Paul HI bought Ken Howells original reamer and headspace gauge, and it now resides at Shooting Star Rifles, aka Mr. Ricks shop. I know he had several of them in the works, perhaps a few have been finished. Hopefully he can chime in on his experience with the round.
The only down note is that Ken gave RCBS his sizing die reamer, and while a year or so back they quoted me ~$100 price for a die set, one of the guys that John is building a rifle for was quoted nearly $200 for the dies! The up side is CH4D will be able to provide reasonably priced dies.
I suppose one of these days I'll have one built.
