416 Rem Mag light loads
Just learning to enjoy reloading and big/medium bores. Have a quick question.
I procured 200 Barnes .416 Rem Mag 300 grain TSX bullets from a tag sale. I would like to load these to around 2400 fps. I have both Varget and 4064 powders on hand. I can not seem to find a load for my desired load....all are either heavier bullet or faster speed.....can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

300 gr at 2400 fps would be a light load for a 375 H&H. Not sure if anyone has load data for that low of a muzzle velocity.

In case you didn't know loading down to far with powerful cartridges can cause dangerous situations.
Hang fires and other problems. be careful or load to the listed lo , no lighter !

Use the 4064 I load down to around 2200 in my 416 Taylor with out trouble 2400 should be easy.

I haven't loaded the 300s slow. My goal was all the velocity I could get ! At high.speed, 2850 with H4895 and over 2900 fps with Rl15 they kill extremely well. And fly very flat to 300 yards. You might gives Barnes ballistician a call. They have been very helpful to me in the past.

Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."

The 60% load with H4895 should get you right about where you want to go.

An under bore cartridge like the .416 Rem won't detonate with a reduced charge of a medium burn rate powder.
