Lhook7.375 Mod 70 Feed Problem
I have a custom 375 H&H built on a Win. mod 70 classic action (CRF). If I have one round chambered and two in the magazine, it will fail to feed the second round. I can close the bolt fully, then cycle it again and it feeds every time. If I have one in the chamber and three in the magazine, it fails to feed the second and third rounds. In both cases the final round always feeds properly.
It functions the same with factory ammo and reloads. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this and how I can correct it?
Edit: I am sure I am not short stroking the action.

SteveI had a problem with mine (pre64 375) feeding due to the magazine being right at the max OAL spec of the cartridge. They were hanging up in the magazine.
After I was able to get some bullets that I could crimp at the groove that were not too long, it all worked.
Probably not your problem, but something to look at.

longshotsIt is not unusual to have a fair amount of work making things feed properly. If you are handy you can probably figure it out. The way the magazine spring is adjusted can have a big effect. A good gunsmith could easily fix it . If you want to play with it,it's best to use dummy rounds or remove the firing pin.

JBoutfishnWhat is happening to the rounds that do not feed? Do they jam? Fly onto the ground?
The first suspect would be a weak magazine spring.

Lhook7JB,
I was also thinking it might be a weak spring. The rounds that are not fed stay in the magazine; I can continue to cycle the bolt through its entire cycle and the round will feed on the next cycle. If I only go half way and don't lock the bolt, the round will not feed.
