OverkillStopping Power is to stop or knock over an animal.
Now after kents test i know that a bullet can knock over a animal.
The barrel weight about 600-650 pounds and fell over, and kent use the 500 jeffery whit 440 grains bullets.
Now if a moose weight 600 pounds, and i shoot the moose at 50 yards whit a 585 nyati 750 grains bullets at 2500 f/S then the moose are going to be knocked down.
And you guys have said all the time that a big bore dont can knock over a animal....!
You guys dont know much about the real hunting world...!

OverkillAnd i think that if you use 900 grains bullets in 577 T-REX it would be more knock down power in them than in the 750 grains bullet. Even if the 750 grains bullet have more energy because of the higer speed.
I think the 900 grains bullet will hit harder than a 750 grains bullet even if it have less energy...!

Pete EOverkill,
I have shot many Roe deer which have a live wieght of around 70lbs with my .308..some fall over on the spot but many have a death run/leap which can be anything from a few feet to 100 yards...
With all due respect, tests such as kents don't prove anything....

<Daryl Elder>I don't see, being as ignorant as I am, how a bullet weighing as much as 1000 grains can "knock" over an animal weighing even 100lbs.. A bullet acts much like a hypodermic needle, no? There isn't much resistance, not enough to move the target object. A bullet wouldn't work very well if that was indeed the principle. Please, correct me if I am wrong. Every day, more and more, I realize how ignorant I am and I can only strive to become more aware.

Sure, dear Overkiller. And when you once do your military service, you gonna be a tanker, with a real BIIIIG GUN that makes WOOOM and topples lots of things over.

<SaxonPig>Not sure what this barrel test was all about, but Newton's Third Law holds that for every action there is an opposite, and equal, reaction. Therefore, any firearm that launched a projectile that could physically knock over a 600 pound object would also knock over a 600 man holding it during firing.
