Has anyone ran the Hornady soft or solids over the chrono. ?

Box reads 2300fps.

I have, yesterday.

I was using solids and as I recall I was getting between 2225 and 2250 fps. Pretty sure the rifle has a 24" barrel, it is certainly no longer than 24". I will check for sure tonight when I get home. They were definitely in the 2200's fps.

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking hard on the 404, and the Hornady ammo. is all I have seen in stores, and those were solids.

I do think I want a 24" barrel, although dont know if 1 -16 or 1 -14 twist would be better, or for that matter make a difference.

Checked, my barrel is 23 inches. The velocity averaged 2256 fps with the solids. The proof twist is 1:16.54, I am not sure what mine is although I suspect it is 1:16.

Thanks for that info. again. Seems like it is very close to"as advertised" I think the box read 2300 fps from 24' Barrel.
