Priming the 416 Rigby
Well today I quickly learned that my cheap old standby Lee priming tool that I used for the past 25 years will not work on the fat Rigby case. Will the RCBS hand priming tool work or the one from Hornady?

congomikeI have one of the old RCBS hand priming tools...the one that you have to manually place each primer. It works great with my RCBS .416 Rigby shell holder.
Ed I use one of the RCBS auto hand held priming tools and it works with the Rigby Shell holder know problems. The Fed 215 M's are a snug fit through it's mechanism however.

Thomas MI use the RCBS auto primer wich works well. An option is to take your dremmel and make the Lee a little bigger...
Make sure you get the correct case holder if you go RCBS, I have noticed that some let go of the case. Think there are 3 different sizes of RCBS holders that will work for different makes of brass. They are intender for 416 Rigby, 378 Wheatherby and 338 Lapua but sometimes with some make of brass you must shoose the smaller holder. This is true for the bach of 450 Rigby brass from Bertram that I have.

fredj338I have the same problem w/ .404 based carts. I tried the RCBS hand tool but didn't care much for the way you had to remove the shell holder. I have a Hornady now & like it better. Buy an extra shell holder so you don't have to change.
