458PHCAPSTICK458 x 2 American
Will the 458 x 2 American fire safely in a 458 win.mag. ....just like a 458winmag. will fire in a 458LOTT safely?
The 458x2 is nothing but a cut down 2" 458 win.mag?.... just a pre-450 marlin type round like the hottest loaded 45-70?
Anybody ever play with one?
Thanks for any info!

GeorgeSYes, it will fire safely, but inaccurately (looooong jump to rifling).
It will soot up your chamber.
It may erode the forward part of the chamber (over thousands of rounds).
IMO, you are much better off loading the .458 Lott to .458x2" ballistics (or .45-70 levels, or .450 Marlin levels or .458 win. Mag. levels).

Dave BushWhy not just build a short action bolt rifle in .450 Marlin? Same as a .458#2 but with a bit wider belt. Another option is to just buy a Browning BLR in 450 Marlin. It is essentially a lever actuated bolt rifle. I have one. Great gun. Accurate 2230 works great.
