catosilvajeDumoulin-Heym-Dakota vs. AHR CZ convert
Compared to price for a double square bridge rife the AHR convert looks great. Any experence with this company? Turn around time? I'm going to Namibia for 30 days in August be nice to take one.

Customers with booked hunts get to the front of the line. He had this rifle from stock to this in about two months. Wayne is a good guy and does great work.

Charles_HelmThey delivered on schedule for me. I think the time line was June-September from confirmation to delivery.

catosilvajeIf I add correctly the #3 upgrade on your CZ is 2800 figuring 700 to 1000 for a base rifle 3800 but the DG blueprinted and all athe rest is 4900 I assume that is total. I'll find out today.

Sid PostWayne builds a heck of a rifle. He posts on the forum as "bitterroot" if you want to read up on his work. Be sure to let him know your booked hunts dates so he can schedule you into the build schedule in time to get some practice in before you fly to Africa.
Best Regards,
Sid

BiebsWayne is one of the most reliable builders I've met. My 700 AHR was the display rifle at Wayne's booth at the DSC in January, in case you stopped for a visit. Great work, very reasonable prices, and finished when committed.

Dave BushI agree with all that has been said here. Wayne is a terrific guy, has a wonderful family, does great work and he does it on time. He built a superb .450 Dakota for me and is presently doing a complete makeover of my CZ .416 Rigby. Listen to him and trust what he says. You won't be sorry.

SevensI too have nothing but praise for Wayne and AHR. He did an upgrade on my CZ - great work and very quick turn around.

Sadly mine has not been out much. Checked it with some cheap ammo before a hunt I did with my kids and the shots bracketed the X. Mine has a CZ barrel as it is an upgrade package so some of the credit or blame goes to CZ. I believe that AHR uses a different barrel profile.

If you're using it for Elephant, leave it as is. There's nothing cooler than an unscoped, "in your face" big-bore magazine rifle. At the range you'd shoot an Ele, a scope is of little value anyway.

RyanBProbably going to shoot buffalo with it next year, in which case I will likely have 400s and iron sights for buffalo and 300s and scope for the lighter stuff.

w5qztI have an AHR in 505 Gibbs. Try as I might, I cannot make the rifle malfunction on feeding 3 rounds during a rapid reload. Great trigger, safety and fit. My wife's cousin, who is a Marine Scout Sniper, came to visit while on leave before he shipped to Afgan. I told him if he could make the rifle jam, I'd give him $100 bucks. He shot the first two rounds standing and the last on his side prone, with the rifle almost upside down. What a Marine will do for a $100 bucks. Well I kept my $100, and he bought the beer. I don't think he'll it prone again. It's a far cry from an M-40!

catosilvajeSent AHR my down money for a 416 Rigby DG rifle. It will look like the Heym Martini or close for half the gold. Be ready for Namibia in August. Or they said I would get it in July. Hope so

rholdenYou can't go wrong with Wayne and AHR. He is a wonderful person to work with and has become a friend. As mentioned above, he has a great family, you just won't do business with any finer individual. I had him re-do a CZ .375 H&H, and a .458 Lott. He also built two 30-06's for me. The most recent one he did was a pre-64 Win. model 70 in 7x57. They are all awesome rifles and very accurate. Your money will be well spent with Wayne.

catosilvajeI hpoe so. That money represents 9 500lb. steers. Thats the way I look at it.

tradewindsThe Ultimate advertisement for AHR, He just built me a 375 H&H and i sent him all the money up front, and he still delivered on time. It is my third and if i was not going to Tanzania this Sept I would buy another.

tekdvrYep; I’ve got it real bad too, just placed an order on Monday (or Tuesday) for an all weather version of Wayne’s DGR. It’ll be a 375 H&H, 22” bbl, Q-rib and he’s putting her in a black / Grey laminated stock. I’m having the metal done in KG Gun-Kote Titanium Grey and the bolt will be sent for NP-3. I by-far prefer a solid piece of wood, but the rifle will see some hard use up north. This combination of products, crafted by Wayne, should eliminate or greatly reduce the issues with warping and corrosion. Should be a fine piece.

Just because you are not going through with the 577 Nitro you still know nothing is cooler than an unscoped Nitro Double.

Wayne is buidling a custom 7 by 57 for wy wife as we speak. AAA wood and an FN receiver I furnished. It will be the third rifle Wayne has worked on for me. Very satisfied with the other two.
And he is a heck of a nice guy.

Ouch! A shot from the DR gallery!!! Well, I'll have to see how comfortable I feel in Namibia this May, spending almost 4 weeks chasing Ele, Hippo, and a Lion...all with a "single-tube'er".
Listening to the advice of my DR "friends", I might as well make my funeral arrangements before I leave !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
