Lhook7New Heym .450 Rigby PICTURES ADDED
I picked up my new Heym from my FFL yesterday! I purchased the rifle from New_Guy on the forums. The rifle looks great and I spent half the night shooting elephants and rhinos on some episodes of Dangerous Game I had DRVd! I probably won't get a chance to put any lead down range until after the holidays.

GeorgeSI can see it now - at some point in the next week, there will be a news item stating, 'Arizona man shoots television with elephant rifle'.
Make sure that brute is unloaded.

I remember seeing and being sorely tempted by that rifle - beauty and the beast all rolled into one!

Lhook7I'm going to slip away at lunch to Cabela's and buy some cheap .458 bullets to play with. I stopped by Bass Pro last night and they did not have ANY .458s!
Sorry about the lack of pictures, I was going to link the original Classified posting so I would have New_Guy's great photos, but the post has been purged. I'll try to take some in the next few days.

James CardwellLhook7, Wonderful looking rifle and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that shoots snap caps at DG on TV. Good luck with the new toy.

Congratulation's on the new toy!

RIPVery nice!

What is the dry weight of that puppy?
How long is the barrel?
What is the muzzle diameter exclusive of the band?
... just for an idea of Heym philosophy.

Kyler HamannHow in the WORLD do you wait that long to shoot a new gun!? The only gun I haven't shot the day I got it was a rifle that was to be my son's.
A few years ago I even fired the new in factory cased, factory scoped, UNFIRED, limited edition 1981 Python Hunter a few hours after I got it. The seller was a little shocked but I don't plan on opening a museum. I told him I was going to shoot it and he didn't believe me.
You must have terrific self control. Nice rifle.

I just finally got around to shooting my Mod 70 30.06 after buying it almost 4 years ago. In the meantime I had Mark Stratton put some bases on it and George Hoenig a front sight and a few other things. must say it was worth the wait, shoots great!
Really though, full time work, school, wife, daughter, 2 houses play hell on a man's free time...

Tom,
Yes I used Cal. He seems like a great guy, and we are pretty sure that we have the only two 450 Rigbys in Fountain Hills.

I am not going to be able to make it to DSC in January, we have a bunch of things going on at that time. Maybe we can get together in January and do some shooting in the desert?
Good luck with the Coues deer!

The dry weight is 10.5# I'll try to take the barrel measurements this weekend and let you know.

What kind of scope will You add? I am sure a
Swaro Z6i 1-6x24 will work awesome on it - especially EE for extended eye relief with 12cm (about 4,75 inches)

In all of the 458 caliber bolt rifles I have tried it in the Hornady 350gr RN feeds from the magazine.
They also perform well on deer and wild pigs at velocities from 1800fps to 2350fps.

Klaus,
That is the scope I am planning on using. I am going to go with the rail mount system.

I am going to have to order some to do some plinking! The only .458 I was able to find in Phoenix was Barnes 500grs. I plan on using Northforks for my hunting bullets.

Perfect Choice !!!

Idaho SharpshooterI loaded my 450 Dakota/CZ to 2370 +/-fps with Swift A-frame 500gr SP's and the Barnes 500gr solids. They made a four-shot group at 200yds under 3". 107gr IMR 4350. I hit my buff at 165yds with the softpoint and he never moved ten feet. What else can I say? The PH said my chrono data is what he had hoped for and not gotten with his 458 Lott. The factory stuff was down 75-80fps in his rifle from advertised.

RIP,
I took the measurements and forgot to post them; I'll get them again when I get home and post them.

Lhook7I fired the Heym a few days ago and it was awesome! It is a very fun rifle to shoot if one is a big bore nut and I definately believe their 100% feed guarantee!
RIP,
The muzzle diameter forward of the banded front site is 0.7175. The Barrel length is 23".
