<JOHAN>Re: What to do with 458 win. mag.

I would build a 404 Jeffery to have as an allround rifle and then reseve the Lott for those moments when things are about to go south

In my opinion 458 lott with 500,550 or 600 grain bullets is a stopping rifle.
404 Jeffery can be used for everything from sheep, deers, big antelopes or wildboars. A 404 will do anything a 375 will plus a bit more

DigitalDanHow about making a really exotic tomato stake out of it? think of all the money you'd save! And the conversation, my God man, your friends would think you not only eccentric, but wealthy as well!

cr500I,m in a similar situation.Since my 458 is being turned into a custom 458 Lott, I have a bedded and cross bolted Brno 602 stock and near new barrel. Instead of throwing them away ,I will be after another brno in 458 Win to use as a practice gun. I will also ream it out with the same reamer to 458 Lott to use for devolping loads with 300 gn barnes and 400 and 500 woodleighs. For the play gun I will work up loads with cheap 350 jacketed bullets and 405 gn cast bullets. As I will have a spare barrel ,I wont be too afraid of wearing out the barrel by firing off 100 cast loads or light jacketed loads at the range.
