458LottfanLead bullet loads for .458 lott?
Has any one used lead bullets in this caliber?
I loaded some Cast performance 460gr gas checked bullets with 80 grs of H4895. Recoil was low and the clocked at 1870 FPS but accuacy was absolut nil. It is hard to find load data for leads in this caliber. I just wanted to load them to practice with and plink at coyotes with it. There are cheeper than the Barns bullets for this sort of thing.
Thanks and Semper Fi.

Hog KillerThe best plinking bullet that I have found for the Lott is the 405gr Remmington SP. The are cheap, good for the money value. I gave up on cast bullets for my Lott when I started shooting these. At any velocity up to the 2100fps range they work well for hogs and such. Over 2300fps they are flying bombs.

Norman ConquestI cast a 500G.W/GC out of linotype.I've used it in the 458Win.but not the Lott.I don't recall my weight of charge at the moment but using 5744 powder I was getting 1800 MV with quite acceptable accuracy. If you're interested PM me + I'll mail you a few + look up my data.

RangerBobIn a .458WM:
500gr RCBS GC cast out of wheelweights (air cooled or water dropped).
50gr 4895
about 1500fps
1.5" groups at 100yds.
You will probably have to add a few grains in the Lott to get the same velocity.
I have found this combo accurate at 55gr and 60gr 4895 also.

akalinin
50 yards, NECG peep
30gr SR4759, CCI 250, Oregon trails 350gr rnfp - non GC
458wm case in a 458 lott ruger #1 24 inch barrel.
~1500 fps avg velocity
No soot/little unburned powder. This is a low recoil, very pleasant practice round - and fairly accurate.
