drewhenrytntHalf Octagon/Half Round-Anyone Got Pics
All the ducks I haven't killed and put in the freezer in the past few weeks are starting to get in a row. I am very slowly getting my dream 404J built on a New Haven 300 RUM action. Wondering if any of ya'll have full length Octagon or Half-Oct/Half-Rnd barreled Big Bores you would be willing to share some pictures?
As for Irons, I am leaning towards 3-leaf folding rear with large white dot front. I like the way hooded front sight looks, but wonder if it could be detrimental to sight picture.
Thanks,

BiebsAndy, NECG has the Masterpiece hooded front sight that's open on top to allow light in. I like the look of hooded and shrouded front sights on my African rifles, and it protects the bead as well.

Idaho SharpshooterAs well, they have the H&H style barrel band front sight that has a flip front. One bead is a .0781" silver bead. Flip back to to use the .150" white bead. Gives you a fine for normal distances, and the big bead for dim light or close up work. Not bad, priced at $115.
Option B: they also offer the Classic. It's a push button detent set up. Classic Ramp with a hood that can be flipped forward if you choose, It's ten bucks more, at $125.
You owe it to yourself to get the NECG catalog.
Just about everything you could wish for in a true custom build.
There's a choice of a one, two, or three folding leaf express sight with or without Island Base. I am having a quarter-rib barrel made for my 425 Westley Richards. My plan is to get the two-folding version. I'll zero the standing a 50 yards, then the folding at 100 and 200.

crsheltonSure,
Here is my Miroku / Winchester 1886 TD 45-90 with 26 inch octagon barrel. The rifle weighs 9.5 pounds unloaded.
The dovetail slot in the barrel has since been filled with a Marbles folding barrel sight and the forward tip of the comb shaved to allow the Marbles tang sight to fold all the way down to the wrist of the stock. ? Guess I need a new picture ?

fla3006Here's a shot out 8x57J at the top of this pic. Best way to get one is off the auction sites or gun show, have it rebored/refinished, otherwise they can be very expensive. They look good on Mausers, not so sure about a M70. JMHO.

AtkinsonWhat some of you are leaving off or over looking is your guns have a half round/half octagon and FULL RIB...That full rib adds a bunch to the barrel and doubles the cost..Awesome!
