I'll be in Soth Africa this June. Plaines game. The bigger animals will be Gemsbuck, Kudo and Red Hartebeest. I know I don't need a 375 H&H but I want to. I've had it for a couple years but never used it yet. I will be taking my 300 Wby also.
Can anyone please suggest a good factory load for plaines game to start testing.

I also recommend the Remington Premium Safari Grade ammo loaded with 300gr Swift A-Frame bullets. I used them this past summer on a Namibian plains game hunt and they worked great.

To answer your second question, I left a box and a half of unused ammo with my PH and he was delighted.

Another vote for the Remington A Frame loads. Used them on buff and plains game with excellent results and they are very accurate in my rifle.

And you'd better believe the PH will appreciate them. Mine did, and he was shooting a Lott.

If your rifle does'nt like the Remingtons suggested here, try Federal's 300gr Nosler Partition.

For the species you mention almost any decent bullet will work well in 375 H&H, so accuracy and practice are more important. This could mean a cheaper factory option would be better.

I used these Feds. last year in my Sako and took 2 impala, a warthog and a kudu bull. They group under an inch at 100m in my rifle. I recovered two perfectly performed "mushrooms" so are not over-penetrative either.

Try a variety until you find what groups best, then decide if it's a bullet that will stand up to the task well. If not, go back to the next best grouper. That's the only way with "factory" ammo.

I have a .308 Win Sako that just does not like any factory ammo with a "premium" bullet. It shoots the lousy stuff well though? Only reloads for hunting with that one

I agree with Stephen Palos. For plains game, bullet type is not as critical as it would be for DG. I would have preferred to use Federal's Premium ammo using 260 gr Accubonds, for their theoretically flatter trajectory and lesser recoil, but the Remington ammo with the A-Frame bullet was more accurate in my gun. That was my prime reason for selecting the Remington ammo, and I was not disappointed in the results.

Superior Ammunition can put together 270 grain TSX quite easily. Or you could get a "Sample Pack" pf several 260 and 270 grain bullets to try.

I used the Federals in 300gr TBBC and TB Sledge Hammer.
