I have 5 of his barrels. They are all excellent. Both of my 510 JAB (500 A2) rifles have stainless 1 in 10" twist McGowen barrels, and are capable of sub-quarter-MOA, e.g., three shots into 0.170" (center-to-center) at 100 yards with the right load: 705 grain Harlow match bullet at 2125 fps. I have not utilized other services, but I know he offers integral ribs if desired, and most gunsmithing. I think he offers a greater variety of calibers and twists in chrome-moly or stainless barrels than most, maybe anybody.

I prefer to have my smith do the other work, but if I didn't have a regular smith, I would trust Harry to do it. Hopefully he would be responsible for any work by assistants he might have, eh?

Have had several rifles rebarreled by McGowen. Great to do business with. High quality product and fast turnaround time as well. Recommend him highly.

Thanks guys for the info. I am thinking about having him doing a rechambering job so there is no need for a new barrel. The project will be to rechamber a CZ 550 Magnum to a 460 Weatherby. It sounds like he is more of a barrel maker than a gunsmith. Anyway, I will look around before deciding who to send my project to. Thanks again. Cheers! Ming
