Jimbo#1About SAKO SAFARI??!!
Can anybody help me with some information regarding the Sako Safari Grade?
1. When was the model introduced?
2. The first Safari´s had the AIV receiver but when did SAKO introduce the AV?
4. Is there a difference betw. AIV and AIII/AV?
5. If so what differences are there?
6 How many rounds did the early Safaris´s take?
Some people say the early Safaris could take 5 rounds in the mag plus one in the chamber but I have only seen Safaris that could hold 4 in the mag plus 1 in the chamber.
I´ll be grateful for any enlightenment!!!

lawndartIf you buy a Tuff-Pack from Harry (aka Mims Reed), he will tell you. He used to be president of the Sako Collectors club.
I did hold one that held four down in .375H&H. I havew heard that some held five down. Sorry, I don't know anymore'

The 375 I had held 4 down. Circa 1990.

Jimbo#1Lawndart!
I know of Mims Reed and his vast knowledge of anything SAKO but Tuff-Pack is new to me.

lawndartMims is the biggest retailer of the TUFF-Pack in the world. It is a caase that holds five rifles for travel, or two rifles and all your clothes. It doesn't look at all like a gun case, more like a poor mans golg club case.
You might give Erkki Kauppi a call over at Sako. He is their head of ammunition, and has been there for 25+ years. If he doesn't know, he will know who does know.
If you can't find the number off the Sako Finland web site, please send me a PM and I will find Erkki's e-mail address for you. It is on my desk at home.
