tankhunter500 Nitro Express die set choice ?
Hello,I need a set of dies for a 500 nitro ,wondered if someone who has used different sets, can recommend one over the other,as being better or best, between RCBS ,Hornady or CH4D, these all being three die sets

cal pappasI use RCBS and for the larger calibers, CH Tool. They are equal and made to specs. 50-50 in my opinion. RCBS has the name but a long wait if not in stock. Higher price, too. CH is quicker on special orders, can make anything you want (including 8- and 4-bore) and at less price. RCBS is not the quality company it was when Fred H. ran it but they still make good stuff. I don't have anything Hornady so can't comment.
Cheers,
Cal

MJinesI have and have used both RCBS and CH4D. If I have any option other than CH4D, that is the option I will use.

AtkinsonI prefer the RCBS dies over the rest..Redfields are very good dies. HOrnadys work but I am not carried away with the design.
I won't use CH4D dies, had problems with their .470 dies and was told my chamber was off size and got a big arguement out of them, so I tossed them and got a set of RCBS and they worked fine..Butch Searcy told me the CH4D dies were the wrong specs.

Walter ProciukLee can make you a custom factory crimp die in 500 NE. This is very useful and makes putting a top notch crimp a snap.
I always use two seaters for big bores. One for the solid and one for the soft. I mark them with a Sharpie so there is no monkeying around.
