458 Lott dies

Though I don't have a Lott, I've heard that standard 458 Winny dies will work.

You might try Midway USA. When I bought my 416 Taylor dies last year, they were about $70. I think they've gone up slightly since then.

Just curious, and since you're posting about a Lott, did that stock work out OK for you?

I still have a few months to wait for the return of my CZ550 in 460 G&A. I'll be posting here about it I'm sure. Stay tuned.

Take .458 WinMag RCBS dies, shorten the FL die to 48 mm. Pushing a case through for calibration, it will provide also a ghost shoulder. Use an extra primer decapping die. The seating die can used as is with proper adjustment in the press.

Just bite the bullet and buy yourself a set of RCBS full lenth reloading dies...your gonna have the gun forever, save yourself the grief of jury rigging....It will save you money any way you cut it.

I used RCBS 458 win mag dies, with no mods, and didn't have a problem with them.

For the best prices on wildcat dies, check out CH4D.

I agree with Ray in principle, but from my personal experience, the winny dies aren't really a jerry rig.

Thanks folks, I found a set of Lott dies(three die set with crimp die) which was ordered by somebody and never picked up. I managed to get them for a bargain price. 125 bucks! Any way you cut it a brand new set of RCBS dies for this rifle is hard to beat at that price.

Now I would like to find a source for hard cast gas checked bullets between 425 grains and 475 grains. Any ideas?

JJ: In the future try www.huntingtons.com for hard to find dies. They are reasonable as well as giving good service. A BIG plus also is the fact they have most everything in stock. Bill T.

Hi Jim,

I bought a set of RCBS 458 Lott dies and have developed some very accurate loads with them. I have a source of hardcast 458 bullets in Krugersdorp RSA, when you down here next let me know and I'll put you in touch with the guy.

As we are in the process of closing down after our 2001 season, my Lott has accounted for some buffalo, pigs, bushbuck and sable so far this year with my reloads.
