I spent the Weekend playing with my 450#2 Jeffery which was originally regulated for a 480 gr bullet with 80 grs of cordite. This is without a doubt one of the nicest shooting double rifle calibers there is! I initially had some problems with crossing at 50 yrds, but reduced the load till this resolved. I tried loads as low as 87 grs and as high as 95 grs of Rl-15. Interestingly, the crossing groups all shot rights and lefts into a ragged 2 inch group at 50 yrds.The final load of 90 grs of Rl-15, with a 4.0 gr Dacron Filler, Fed 215 primer, Bertram brass and Woodleigh 480 gr SP resulted in a 1.2 inch four shot group with no crossing. At 100 yrds the group was 2.5 inches and no crossing. The bullets are striking dead level from each barrel and I'm taking a coarse Bead and holding the barrels over a sandbag rest. The velocity Avg is 2150 fps. The brass was reloaded 6 times during all this load development and the pressure is so low they just drop out of the chambers. This could be as good a shooter as my 450-400 Jeffery.-Rob

Glad to hear your 450 No2 is shooting so good. Like you, I think is the best cartridge in the 450/475 group. I am still curious to hear how the Hornady 350RN shoots in your No2. Start with your 480gr. powder charge[and/or try 81gr. of IMR 3031 with 5gr. of poly]. You might also want to try the 500gr Hornady as a practice plinking load. Once again in my No2 I use the same load as for the Woodleigh's.
