You know...I thought the picture was in bad taste too but when members of this forum start threatening one another and that is accepted without question .... all bets are off !
Don, why have you allowed the threat and the duel challenge to stand while my response was censored? Is it good for 14 year old kids to learn on AR that threats are ok?

RIP, I have not lied about anything on these forums. You have gotten angry when I say that you are acting like you are drunk, but that is the most apt description I can find for some of your behavior. And when you were publicly caught in a fib, and reacted emotionally (see above).

Jeff S asked you here on the forum and GeorgeS PM'd you.
Two are several.
More than one member PM'd me and several posted remarks right here for you to see.
That picture was out of line...it has been removed.
If you are not big enough to fight your battles here and are making a request for me to delete the other posts that pick on you, just say the word and I'll ask the other posters to retract their nasty comments.
It's in your court.
Don
500groans,
What fib? Now you are just whining.
All of this has been covered over and over, above and elsewhere.
Grow up and stop the lies and conniving. Figure out some other way to get your jollies.

RIP,
Knock off the personal attacks. If you don't like 500grains, ignore him.
I think more than enough topics have been taken off-course.
George
George,
Here is a deal: If Dan McCarty will ignore Ron Berry, Ron Berry will ignore Dan McCarty, gladly. Henceforth, may it be so.

RustyI requested the moderator of this forum, that the photo be removed. I requested you to remove it.
It was a shameful display.

That's rather pissy of you Don, don't you think?
So let's try out a hypothetical. If I post a threat to another forumite, such as you, and request a duel, that's ok with you and ok for kids to read. Right?
But an ugly (although legal) picture is not ok. Right?
I can remember not so long ago a forumite was banned for questioning your business ethics. But threats of violence are ok?
Not a very consistent standard.
But your services are free, so we all got what we paid for.

Hey, 500G, I'm not at all happy about RIP's comments; another moderator is asking RIP to cease and desist.
BUT, let's be honest here, the comments between you and RIP are hardly one sided..you are both tossing it pretty good.
As for my services, most other people here appreciate me....you can't please everyone all the time.
I can live with that.
I couldn't live with that disgusting picture.
Don

Sure, but the issue is why you let threats remain, while you can't put up with an ugly pic.

NitroXSurely the "duel" photo is a cartoon and not meant to be taken seriously.
I would think any "Judge" on earth would laugh if an action was brought to him on such "evidence". Unless there is a whole lot more there than what I have read.
Don - good work IMO.
PS I wonder if we can get successfully back to an actual discussion on Rigby Double Rifles as there was a very successful diversion tactic to drive this thread off course.
500 Grains:
Rusty stated he requested your photo be removed. I also made the same request. That equals at least two. These forums are a wonderful source of helpful information as long as these senseless vendettas don't interrupt. I don't think there is a need for a 'Devil's Advocate" for every post. Let's stick to the facts not finding fault!
Please remember when you get in a pissing contest with a skunk everybody comes out of it stinking!

500grainsNitrox, perhaps a little more attentive reading would help you get Ron's drift.

DRG,
You did well. There should be no complaints about the pumpkin.
I don't expect everyone to understand the bad blood between Dan McCarty and myself.
I have responded to his pervasive negatity to most parties he chooses to address by addressing him as "500groans," "Nattering Naybob of Negativism," etc.
This has been going on a long time, and it started about the same time that he began to insinuate that I was drunk. It was his only defense, weak as it may seem, to try to smear me somehow.
Finally he took it a step further and on two separate threads has typed lying references to my having lost hospital privileges. One was an explicit statement that purported to say that I had lost hospital privileges, which he posted then hastily edited out. Then he has subsequently played with this libel in little word games.
He is a liar and cannot prove otherwise.
I still think he and I should agree to have a little boxing match. Marquis of Kingsbury's rules.
There is no rational way to deal with the likes of such psychopathology other than to ignore it.
29 March 2005, 08:29
500grainsRon,
Unfortunately you are the fellow doing the lying again. None of my posts have ever said you lost hospital privileges, although it is very clear hospital privileges are a sensitive issue for you. However, I do not know why that is so. The fact is that any harm to your reputation relating to mentioning hospital privileges has come from your own posts.
Also, your threat and your straightfaced request for a duel (followed only later by a cartoon to mitigate the effect) do not reflect well upon you.
There he goes again. It is hopeless.
Lying again. Twisting anything I say to try to turn it back on me. Pathetic.
He is a hopeless personality disorder.
The deal is off. He doesn't have to ignore me, but I will ignore him.
No harm has come to me Danny Boy. Go ahead and make up some more lies. Who cares?
BTW, how can you be straight faced over the internet? Duels are illegal. The duel request was more sarcasm than humor, but this pathetic straw is all that you can grasp at? ... Oh! I get it! You really are afraid of me! ... BOO!
Here's one more, this time with a smiley:
500groans,
Shall it be pistols at dawn then?

SaeedGentlemen,
I got a message asking me to provide "minders" for the Jerry Springer show on the Big Bore Forum.
I won't do that, but wish all the gentlemen involved in this rather sad argument would just stop and read what they have written themselves, and imagine it written by another person.
It does not convey a very pretty picture, does it?
I feel like I know most of you pretty well, as you have been on these forums for quite a while. And I am not going to insult your intelligence by telling you what you should and should not write on a public forum.
Please consider what sort of impressions you might be giving to someone who does not know you as well as I do.

MinkmanHoping to one day own a Double Rifle, either buying one or building one, from what I've seen I like the Merkel. That said, the Blaser I handled at did lock up like it was already broken in.
Is the S-2 the one with the barrel screw for regulation? How does this work and is it reliable in larger calibers? I did not care for the rubber rib though.
As for finishes, I'd really like to see a parkerized double, but no synthetic stocks. Anyone got any pictures?
What year did the Rigby turn South?
Thanks
Jerry

Please don't ask Ron. He doesn't want to talk about this.
Irish Paul,
Hospital privileges are a form of credentialing of physicians to perform certain functions at a hospital, such as admitting and caring for patients at that hospital.
To lose hospital privileges would be a sanction against a physician by that hospital, as a result of some grievous infraction of propriety or some general incompetence.
Think of the psychotic physician who carves his initials with a scalpel on the abdomen of the patient he has just finished operating on, signifying himself as a true artiste. That miscreant would lose his hospital privileges to operate at that hospital. He would also go to jail or an insane asylum and lose his medical license, no doubt.
What 500grains has admitted to doing is to concoct some hints that I lost my hospital privileges. He has done this after spelling out the false charge in a post and then deleting it, after I had seen it.
Subsequent to this he plays with the phrase "hospital privileges" in various ways, to, as he has admitted, yank my chain or get my goat.
This has taken the place of his former game of calling me a drunk.
500grains is a pathetic liar.
Henceforth he is to be known as "500lies" if anyone wishes to address him by a fitting handle.

So please, let us just turn this thread over to him now and see what kind of lies he can come up with next.

Irish PaulThank you for the explanation Ron.
I tell you one thing, I would rather go hunting with a phyisician at my side !!

That's not true Ron. It's a little fiction you have invented to justify your temper tantrums, obscenity, name calling and threats (which I have speculated arise from alcohol use). Also, you seem to think that calling me a liar somehow makes your false charges believable.
But it is true that the words "hospital privileges" send you into an absolute tizzy. But I have no idea why.

gixxerSo, besides the arguing for almost 3 pages more or less, who can summarize what the thread was about again? Is it a double for 5g or less?
P.S. I did read the link at the top of the post a reply box.

<allen day>Well.........
I was at the Kansas City Cabela's 'Gun Library' a few months ago, and they had a used Kalifornia Rigby double for sale. I handled it, looked it over, and was not impressed. It was too heavy, poorly balanced, I didn't like the sights, and the workmanship was just OK.
Compared to a current Westley Richards or Holland double it would take some sort of sloppy-seconds award from every standpoint of consideration except price. Compared to an older best-quality English double of good make, it would not only take a sloppy-2nds award, but an inferior-investment award as well. I don't see this as a good gun to invest hard money in.
I haven't seen a Searcy in a number of years so I won't offer a comparison to that gun......
AD
To all,
There he goes again. As predicted.
Mr. 500lies is at it again. Unless he has gone back to delete or edit more of his posts, his trail of deception is clear. It would not take a bushman tracker to follow his spoor.
Mr. 500lies is a professional liar. It's what he does. It's what he is. He is not very good at it, but he is persistent.
I yield the thread again to Mr. 500lies.
