<Jhon>Range of projectiles
Gentlemen. Down here in Oz the government seems to be hell bent on sticking it up shooters. The inspector of ranges for the NSW police is trying to limit ranges to 8mm only. Naturally

my friends and I are somewhat concerned as we shoot .375 up to .585 . The main concern is the question of how far projectiles travel when fired at different angles of elevation. Is the any shareware that would allow me to graph the flight of a projectile. Or a mathematical formula that can be used. For the life of me I cant understand how a 500 grain RN 458 could travel as far as a 175gn 30cal. . all help welcome.

jeffeossoJhon,
they don't
http://www.realguns.com/ballistics.htm is a link that will allow you to show this. Until you get to the VERY large bullets, running past 2500, do you get VERY long range guns. the 30 calibers dominate the long range shooting.
This seems pretty arbitrary, and I would research the LAWS related to this, rather than a range inspectors intrepretation of them.

PCAnother bullshit piece of legislation ???
In my opinion a .303 FMJ round will go a hell of a lot further than a big round nose from say a .375 on up
