Now it's true that muzzle energy isn't equivalent to recoil as stated.....as I stated.....Newton's 3rd law of action and equal reaction is more like MV=MV and not MV(2)=MV(2)

Newton's third law does NOT say MV=MV. It's says MA=MA.

MV (mass times velocity) is equal to MOMENTUM.

MA (mass times acceleration) is equal to FORCE.

If we apply a little more of Sir Isaac's contributions to humanity, namely calculus, to MOMENTUM with respect to time, we get FORCE! In other words as the MOMENTUM changes with time (actually the mass is equal in this case but the velocity changes) we get FORCE. In the case of the rifle being fired this FORCE is the RECOIL force, which is what YOU FEEL pushing/shoving/kicking/etc your shoulder.

It also just happens that the time rate change of MOMENTUM is dependant upon the pressure in the barrel. Since Pressure divided by cross sectional area equal force.

I strongly recommend you buy a physics book and read it thoroughly.

Don't take my word for it though. The provided link is one IN MANY that are immediately available from a google search.

Newton's Third Law of Motion

Would you like to get into why fluted barrels CAN be better than non-fluted barrels. The physics are FAR more complex than this simple little recoil problem.

Now the truth of it, subjective or felt recoil, as I stated originally myself, has been stated by Dave (470Mbogo). You would be hard pressed to "feel" any difference if: the muzzle velocities are maintained constant between the 416 Taylor and 404 Jeffery, the rifles are of equal weight, and the rifles are stocked identically.

Now I tire of this idiotic debate.
