Re: 500 Jeffery Feed Problem
That is an indication of the stack, its not wide enough..I would recommend that you send the gun to Dennis Olson, 500 1st st., plains, Mt., 59859....Tel. #406-826-3790..Dennis is good at making them feed or has been for me......

Some of these BIG guys focus TOO much on appearances of their rifles, and hardly anything on functionality. That's a disgusting problem.

What sort of magazine box and follower was used in the construction of your rifle? Unless the magazine system was designed around the .500 Jeffery cartridge, I would EXPECT feeding problems. A Model 70 box designed for the .375 H&H cartridge or something like that simply won't do, and cut & try, guesswork-type magazine alterations won't do, either. The magazine and follower must be mathematically correct for the cartridge in question. That was Paul Mauser's original formula, and it's the ONLY formula that works properly with controlled-feed actions.

To me, this one issue is likely the foundation of your entire problem, and it's likely your solution as well.

I'll be honest with you, (and no I don't know anything about Mr. Wells) I don't trust 90% of the riflesmiths out there, even those who produce expensive, pretty rifles (pretty is as pretty does), to understand proper feeding, nor do most of them know how to achieve the proper solution to such problems, especially when they're turning out a rifle that was designed for a radically different cartridge on an action that was designed for something else altogether.
