AtkinsonRe: What caliber for 1917 enfield custom big bore
If your going to do something with that big ole action, do it right and make a 500 something or other out of it..I like the 505 Gibbs myself, but a 416 Rigby would be nice..then it will fetch a big price if you ever want to sell it, the bigger the better in the sales dept....
I wouldn't waste that action on any std. length cartridge like a 375, 416 Rem.

Thebear_78I have a rather poorly sporterized 1917 enfield in 30/06 that I have been toying with the idea of having made into a custom big bore bolt gun. I was thinking that something in the 375 or 416 range would be a good one for this conversion. The 416 remington, 416 rigby, or Taylor or maybe the 375H&H. What are your guys oppinions on these cartridges and the feasability of them in the 1917 enfield. Thanks
