R. G. HowardNew Model 70 .375 H&H
I took it to the range last Sunday and shot with the iron sights. I had ordered the Leupold rings and bases but the bases didn't fit. The screw holes on the back of the receiver are .330 apart.
I shot from a Lead Sled using 300 grn TSX and 65 grains of R15. At 50 yards, the first three shot made one ragged hole. But, the stock hit me so hard on the cheek bone that I shot the rest of the 22 rounds from the sticks.
The trigger is perfect. I ordered Warne bases and quick detach rings instead of the Leupold bases and rings. I decided I might want to take the scope off for the flight to Africa.
Except for the damage to my cheek bone I am very happy with the rifle. It is well done and I appreciate the features; pre 64 type action, double cross bolts, front sling swivel on the barrel, everything I could ask for.

Pete A.Here I add a sorbathane pad to the comb of my hunting rifles (this one is a post 64 375 h&h):
Takes some of the sting out of the check area. Not magic but can help.

R. G. HowardI don't think I have room for the sorbathane pad. I had to force my face down on the stock to get a sight picture. When the scope is mounted that problem should go away. Otherwise, I will be removing wood.

Yup....some stocks just lend themselves to scopes.....Guns like the Remington 721 are the opposite...not too scope friendly at all.
Thanks for the report and I'm in full agreement on the new M-70 trigger.....better than any M-70 previous to this one!

Bill/OregonI handled one today and really liked it. The iron sights line up for me like I was throwing up a grouse gun. Very nice trigger, too.

458diaI have a win 375 and love it the rifle is a joy to shootI am starting to reload to go shooting this weekend.
I plane to use it as my goto rifle. It put 5 rounds into a 2" group at 50 yards with the only thing I don't like, the notched rear sight. (I am used to military ghost rings so I plan to replace it with a straight single blade express sight w/ line insert or a peep sight.
