bwana dogo416 Rem. Mag loads with 370gr Horth Fork bullets
Anyone have pet loads for the 416 Rem using North Fork 370 gr, softs? I'm pretty satisfied with 84-85gr Re15,using 215 primers.Thanks.

tiggertateI just recently helped work up a load of 76 grains of Rel-15 and CCI mag primers for that bullet, cup point solids and solids. We clocked them at a very consistent 2350 fps and less than MOA. NF loads them in the low to mid 80s like you too. What kind of velocities are you getting with the additional powder?

bwana dogoI have gotten 2710 fps with 86.5 gr Re15 and 215's that groups the 370gr NF's to 3/4". This is a compressed load in brass resized to headspace on the shoulder. No pressure signs noted.
85 gr. Re15 gets around 2650 fps.

NFMikeNo one has the same barrel or components or lot #s as someone else but I can say that if you are using RE15 and have a 24" barrel, you'd be better off limiting your velocity to 2550fps. You can get up to 2600 from a 26" barrel. Your load and/or velocity would produce near 80,000psi in my test barrel.

Michael RobinsonThis load was recommended to me several years ago by allen day:
Federal cases, CCI Large Rifle BR primers (not the typical magnum caps), North Fork 370 grain soft, 76 grains of H4064 for around 2,370 fps. (BACK OFF 10% TO START IN YOUR RIFLE; BE CAREFUL; ETC., ETC.)
And I would definitely listen to Mike concerning the use of RL-15. He knows whereof he speaks!

MississippianMy load was 79 gr RL15. Sub MOA and just shy of 2500FPS from a 22" shilen. Killed 14 critters in RSA last Nov with temps well over 100, No problems to report! Great bullet!!
