I'm thinking about a Mcmillan Supergrade model 70 stock for my Safari Express 375. Anyone put one of these stocks on this model? I'm getting tired of the clubby super express stock and am looking for somethine sleeker, and maybe lose some weight. Should I keep the barrel mounted recoil lug and inlet the stock? Is this stock lighter?

i like the mcmillian safari stock with the sunny hill 'fish belly' bottom metal designed for the safari stock.

I have a McMillan on a 416 RemMag. With a magnum fill, it takes a bit of weight off, no idea how much but it ballances on the front action screw.

If I remember right, it came with a recess in the forearm for a front lug. Mine has been re-barrelled without a lug so I don't remember for sure. If you want to use it, just bed the rear of the lug and leave plenty of room on the sides and bottom and it will work fine.

The SuperGrade is my favorite McMillan pattern for a Winchester even though the forearm is awfully square.

I didnt realise the forearm of the 70 supergrade stock was square. I have late NH supergrade that I like, doesnt seem square to me, maybe they are using a pattern from an earlier model.
