Hey.
I posted this question over at your 416 Taylor site Brian but maybe it didnt get through to you.
Whats the proper trim length for the 416 Taylor? Also, are you using a long drop tube when loading for it? Ive some difficulties when the charges are 75 grain and bigger.

Rolf,
I've always trimmed to 2.495 in. As far as the drop tube, I can't help you there. I use a Dillon 550B and Reloader 15 without problems.

Mauser416,

Do you use the Dillon in progressive mode to load .416 Taylor? Just curious. Seems that the consensus is to not use a progressive.

Rolf,

Sorry for not answering right away!

My monitor fried the other night (real actual smoke!) and I'm computerless right now.

I'm using a work computer right now, but I don't have a desk job, so i don't check it much.

I trim to about the same length as mentioned above. Keeps me from needing to trim as often.

I have not run into the powder sapce problem. which powder are you trying this with?

Thanks for your patience! The new monitor was ordered last week, but it's slow getting stuff to Alaska.

Hello again.
Man this is a great board. THE BEST!

Ive used Norma 202 before but I will give it another try. Ive only loaded for this caliber a couple of times so maybe it isnt such a big problem after all.
Come to think of it, do you crimp or is it business as usual with this round? Do you have any other tips or tricks?

Brian.
I hope things work out regarding your computer trouble.
A bit like women dont you think? Cant live with them and you cant live without them.

Pertinax,
I have used it in the progressive mode albeit slowly to verify several steps of the process. Next time around, I'll do each step separately. I've been thinking about going back to a single stage press but still need to sell the Dillon. I guess I'm waiting to luck into a good trade.

Thanks, Mauser. I'm debating whether or not to buy a Dillon and use it in "single shot" mode, or whether I should just buy a single-stage press. I used to load pistol cartridges on a Dillon, and boy, I'm spoiled. Manual priming? You've GOT to be kidding!
