chuck375Thanks for the pictures and data! I shoot the 570g TSX out of my 500 Jeffery as well, can I ask what rifle / cartridge you shot the 570g TSX out of? How did the giraffe react?Obviously he/she is dead.

Todd WilliamsHi Chuck,
The 570gr was fired from a Merkel 500NE double. Interesting on the Giraffe, I took a broadside shot at about 40 yards. He took off straight ahead and I gave him another as my PH hit him with a 458 Lott. All three bullets were in a triangle of about 6 inches. He took that first hit from me and then the Lott, but crumpled on my second shot. This is the bullet from the second shot, found under the skin after smashing the offside shoulder.
Here is a pic of the bullet entries.

HizzieKinda looks like a smiley face.

Although not so smiley for the giraffe. How did it taste?

Todd WilliamsHizzie, I thought it tasted pretty good myself. We were hunting on Bishopstone Estates in the Tuli area of Southern Zimbabwe. Bishopstone has something like 800,000 citrus trees and it was harvest time. The ranch had a temporary workforce of 1,000 or so migrant workers and the ranch manager was shooting 2 Giraffe per week to feed them.
He was tired of shooting the Giraffe so asked us to go out and collect 2 for the workers. Trying to some challenge into it, we decided to go after them with the double as anyone who has chased them around knows there is NO WAY to sneak up on one without them seeing you first! Anyway, the 2 Giraffe were free but I didn't get to bring anything home. Didn't want to pay either as they were young bulls, smaller than a "Trophy" Giraffe.
Chuck, I was surprised also to see him run with those 2 big hits. He looked like a building imploding on that third shot however!
