Only one Gun per year !!!
My better half and I have begun the process of joining incomes. I had to do it as I am not responsible with my own money. One of the new rules is I am only able to purchase one new rifle per year, this means the 9.3x62 cz I have ordered is included under this new brutal regime. The one concession is that tax returns can be used however one wants if you get one that is !!. So after my 9.3x62 I have to wait until next June for my .458 win mag cz for my lott project (save a big tax return). How will I ever cope this years choice is gone already !! [Frown]

Any others under brutal regimes such as this [Confused]

I hope GWB comes to my rescue [Wink]

I feel for you. I had a regime change about 15 years ago. I now try to hold myself down to one new gun per month.

If it's any consolation, my wife has also laid down that law. However, bribery is quite an effective way of getting around it. Does she like diamonds? Worked for me! Good luck PC.

In 3 months I will be under a new regime, but dictatorship took hold long ago, my piggy banks were smashed long ago. Anytime she finds large cache(s) of money, she says "...is there any other money I should know about?" I usually then say... "No, none that you should know about.". PC... if you get a new 500 A-sq, just tell her it use to be your grandfathers.

My Wife is pretty great. She had bought me many fine guns. Mostly she complains about not knowing what I would want. My neighbor across the street happens to work at my favorite gun shop. So a casual comment to him works wonders when she goes in looking for ideas. I still do have to watch myself though. She let my know that I've exceed my gun quota for awhile, with a new 12ga coachgun, everything for my 470 double project and now the new 16bore howda. It's time to renew my effort on the overdue Honey do list.

You guys are pussy-whipped! [Razz]

What you should have done is marry a woman who shoots and hunts like I did (well, the second time around). [Wink]

Now, we just buy each other the guns we want.

Well actually, my wife does shoot and hunt. However, she's a firm believer in justifying the new gun. She's perfectly content to hunt everything with her .257 Roberts and .22 rimfire. Throw in her .380 for a total of three guns, and she's asking me "just why do you need another gun?" I'm still trying to convince her that "Just 'cuz" is a good enough answer!

Good Lord. One gun per year? At that rate, she owes me about 17.....

I probably shouldn't do this but I will.

1. Make sure you really want a particular firearm, then come home late and walk through the door bawling like a new-born babe. If you think you might have trouble doing this, have a mate squirt onion juice in your eyes. Fall to your knees in front of her and tell her you are sorry, you are just a foolish man. She of course will want to mother you and you then tell her what you did. You will be forgiven with a stern lecture. How do I know this? WARNING: this only works once.

2. She has forbidden you from buying firearms, she said nothing about building a firearm from scratch...understand?

3. She said nothing about bartering for a firearm, so what if you had to trade a liter of your blood...it's a renewable resource right?

4. You can always "accidentally buy" a rifle like I did. Have one of your mates put one on online auction, bid on it and show her. Tell her some bozos were bidding in increments of a dollar and you thought that was disrespectful (women understand this) so you put in a couple of real bids. Explain the rifle is really pretty (better use Photoshop) and you think it will sell. Later when it doesn't act like you will set up a fake username and account, to place a higher bid than yours, that way you won't have to buy it. A woman will object to that since it is dishonest (it is but don't tell her it is a set-up) and she will lecture you. You had better be able to do "repentant male" real well at this point or her bovine excrement detector will go into overdrive and you'll have to wear a snowsuit to bed for a month.

There are ways and then there are ways, be creative.

Last but not least, leave you mates at home and take her shooting with a .22. Put a clear plastic box of .22 shells on the tabel while having coffee and casually mention you will give her $1.00 for every time she hits the target with one and $2.00 for every time she gets into the 10 ring. Blatant manipulation and bribery but hey, it's a means to an end right? [Smile]

We have a few gunshows here, and three big ones. I take the better half to the big ones, as there is a gentleman who sells estate jewelry are very reasonable prices. (I get discounts in the 50 to 60 percent range because I've bought so musch stuff from him.) I hand the better half my credit card and tell her to have fun. She never goes way overboard, is happy, and I get to add to my collection without arguement. It's a win win situation. [Big Grin]

Paul has the right idea. As long as they get to indulge in their vices on an equal basis, you shouldn't have many problems, no matter how many guns you buy.

Gentlemen

I never had that problem since I think it's not of their damn business. Girls buy's clothes, parfumes and stacks of other thing we tend to think is crap or POS. Just don't tell them what you think [Big Grin]

None of my girl friends has showed any interest over the important matters, what to buy and not to, when or how often. "Don't ask, Don't tell" [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
If I would have gotten this problem, I would have ended the trouble and hitted for the market again. When I read the posts in this topic, I wonder who is king of his own castle.

If someone (wife, girlfriend) is trying to controll your account for the important stuff (guns, reloading, optics etc.)Use the same trick as Swiss bank managers [Eek!]

PC, you have the Jewish, Greek orthodox christian, Islamic, Persian years etc. etc. "Don't break the rules, just bend them soo they fit your need" [Big Grin]

My wife has not got a clue about rifles - fortunately [Cool]

The way I get around investments for rifles is:

1. buy a rifle of a certain model
2. Tell her - show it to her - tell it was only $650 like the CZ550
3. Customize the rifle (another $2000 she wont notice [Wink]
4. Get a second rifle of the same model
5. dont tell her
6. customize the 2nd rifle (another $2000...)
7. buy a third rifle......

Got the message? [Big Grin]

Change model every year.
Get a propper gun vault.
Law does not allow my wife to have access to my gun vault (good law in austria) [Cool]

Reminds me to order a new gun vault because mine is to small already!

HAve fun!

All the Contender and Encore folks have been doing a variation of Franz' suggestion. Adding barrels (I've got 21) at least some of which are accompanied by new wood, almost all by new scopes, new cartridges to load, etc.

My first wife thought I was "consumed" by shooting because I bought ONE (1) new gun in the 9 years we were married. I thought I was being responsible and heck I was overseas and the only hunting I did was with my "PCS gun" (an H&R Topper 12 ga with 20" barrel and Lyman adjustable choke). Now she wishes she had had a little extra maturity and "patience".

My current wife generally does not give me grief about anything and a quick review reveals a net change of one (1) gun a year increase since we've been married. That doesn't include the Contender barrels (once I got 10 in one year with the aforementioned accessories), trades, etc. It doesn't include my other hobbies, donations to my favorite charities or other things like that.

Of course she gets to do her "thing" as well. She thinks she's getting something when we replace her car first (but heck, we run vehicles 10-12 years), take trips (which all mysteriously go by places like L.L. Bean, Bass Proshops, and bunches of gun stores, fur-trade era forts, etc.), new clothes (don't women's clothes wear out faster? oh, and I need new camo so I won't tear up my pants in the woods...), etc. This is one woman who WON'T buy jewelery [Big Grin] but she does insist on her monthly massage, hair appointment (that never really changes anything), etc.

I don't believe that a "regime change" is in order. [Wink]

You're studying to be an accountant. This will be good training for your first job. Learn how to keep a second set of books (accounts). [Wink]

Secondly, you have a wonderful loop hole just waiting to be exploited. You were given a free reign to buy anything if you get a tax refund, right? So ask your employer to make additional voluntary tax deductions off your gross.

Then at the end of the year when you make your claim and get a refund, you have got a ready made slush fund. [Cool]

There needs to be more women like my sister-in-law. After my brother sold a gun or 2 she told him "we are not in the gun selling business, we are in the gun BUYING business". She also told him one time "sorry I haven't bought you a gun in a while". I helped him find his .375 and get it shipped in which was his 10th anniversary present from her. After it got here I asked her if she was pleased. She turned to my brother and asked him if he was happy with it. He said yes. She turned back to me and said "if he is happy then I am happy". You have to love a woman like that. But she does have it good. My brother said "I get guns & she gets diamonds".

I can hear the question now. Yes she has a sister (who is a cop and married to a cop). And no her sister is nothing like her.

As a side note I am storing my brother's guns for him while he is stationed in Hawaii. She has promised to get him to get him new ones.

Don't worry too much. My other half is worse than that, in eight years i've only been allowed one rifle and a couple of handguns.Maybe Jackboot Johnnie will buy most of the handguns to help pay for a couple of more rifles.

M 98 we have had a slight revision. The gun rule is now relative to income. On my graduate accountants wage I am allowed one gun per year but as my income rises so does the amount of guns I am allowed [Smile]

This surely is an incentive to work hard. Although M 98 it sounds as though you have the perfect missus [Big Grin]
