What bothers me is that to a large extent it is already here.

Today I went in to the local Sheriff's Office to renew my CCW. Things went fine, but a couple of things really bothered me.

Part way through the process, the lady handling my renewal became concerned and started searching both her computer screen and the paperwork from my file (I've had a CCW issued by this Sheriff for the last 16 years). After growing frustration on her part, I asked what the problem was. She replied that she couldn't seem to find my Oregon ID number. Folks, I don't HAVE an Oregon ID card (the State will sell you one of those if you want, and if you don't have an Oregon Driver's License).

Anyway, after a bit she says "Oh, here it is", and wrote out a number I am completely unfamiliar with (NOT my CCW number, either)....do you still live at xxxxx, xxxxxxank Road? Is your phone still xxx-xxxx?

About four or five information confirmation questions later, I was wondering why they bother to have one fill out a new application for a renewal very 4 years. Seems like you could just go in, hand them your money (or phone and have them take it from your bank account) without all that bother. In this case, they DID take it from my VISA account....

I didn't vote on this as it doesn't have the option for "both." The audio was hilarious because the dude was such a wuss and the chick had him by the "cojones." Big government has already invaded everybody's personal info since the '60's and '70's. There's something on you on some database on somebody's mainframe that anybody can access for shits and grins.
