Looked it up on AmmoGuide.com. Assumed you have a long enough magazine ... which could be troublesome. They had the following information:

"Sorry, but based on your settings, you cannot ReChamber your .416 Remington Magnum firearm to .416 Rigby because the case of the .416 Rigby is too narrow at the top of shoulder.
Also, the case of the .416 Remington Magnum is too wide at the bottom of shoulder.

NOTE: A qualified gunsmith can sometimes work around reported problems with special-case techniques not considered here, such as 'barrel setback'. Always consult with a qualified professional."

A good caution, but a smith with real experience may have different information.

tonto,
There are 2 major problems with this, 1 the shoulder of the 416Rem is farther forward than the 416Rigby, so the reamer won't clean this area up unless the barrel is set back 1-2 turns, and, 2 the bolt face of the rifle may not be able to accommodate this size case head, Remington rifles cannot, and few others will, some can, but I don't recommend it because it will be very thin and prone to the possibility of breaking.
You need a true Magnum Mauser action for this cartridge, like the CZ550 Safari.
Cheers.

With factory loads, as you know, there isn't a performance difference, and the 416 Rem holds more in the magazine. I guess I'm not sure why you would go to the trouble. If you're willing to rebarrel, moving up to a 470 Capstick should be straightforward.

I can't see a reason to do this unless of course you feel that you need more velocity. In which case it would probably be cheaper to find a CZ that's already chambered in .416 Rigby.......JMHO

I doubt it. and unless you wanted to hot load a Rigby, why would you want to?
