SnellstromAny accuracy change when you crimp?
I'm working on my .375 H&H load of 300 grain Barnes TSX. Found a great accurate load but realized I want to crimp my hunting loads, do any of you notice any change in your loads when you crimp them?
Do you use a crimping die or do you do it in one step with a seating + crimping die?
I also posted this in "reloading forum".
Thanks

surestrikeYes I use a factory crimping die for everything I can. If there isn't one made I use the two step process with the seating die.
I have noticed better consistancy in my groups if not better accuracy when properly crimping.
I have two custom crimping dies one in .470 Nitro and one in .458 Lott and whole pile of standard ones. I use the Lee crimpng dies.

AntlersLike surestrike, I have found that using the Lee factory crimp dies results in more consistency in groups and sometimes clearly adds accuracy. I've got them for all my calibers.

SnellstromThanks guys I went ahead and ordered the Lee crimp die from Cabela's for $7.99.
The load I've come up with turned in a .5" 3 shot group for me the other day so I hope crimping leaves the group size unchanged!
That is better than I expected from a .375 shooting 300 grain bullets.
