600 Overkill Question
I'm thinking about an AHR 600 Overkill, how many members here have one and could you post pictures of them.Thanks.

I think Rob Garnick recently said the count was up to a few hundred. I have one (for sale, BTW) and have posted pictures of it when I got it, while working up loads, when it took Cape buffalo and when I put it in the classifieds here. There are photos of it on the AHR website in the Dangerous Game section - the "fleur de lis" close-up, and in the Available Now section.

I'll try to repost a couple later today.

Great caliber. Great gun. Great choice of builders - Wayne at AHR truly is the best.

Good luck

Last count was well over 200. Everyone who has one has been quite satisfied. CCDoc's is a beautiful gun well worth the money. Do your research on the weopon, AHR has a time proven recipe and most importantly, delivers a quality product on time.-Rob

Here is another photo comparison of the 600 Overkill with other rifles

L to R 30-06 w/220 Nosler Partition, 416 Rem w/400 Hornady Interbond, 458 Win w/ 500 gr Interbond, 505 Gibbs W/570gr TSX and 600 Overkill w/900 gr Woodleigh

I had a 458 WM and the 505 and the 600 dwarf it.

Thanks for all the info, it seems like AHR is the way to go for a 600 Overkill.

A 900gr Woodleigh at 2300fps looks like a 1 inch diameter"smokin ball of lead" when it hits anything out of the .600Ok-Rob

The 416 and 458 Hornady bullets expanded to over an inch, as did the 570 gr 505 TSX. The 900 gr Woodleigh went over an inch and a half!

The 220 Partition from my 30-06 is the only one dug out of an animal and it was a large brown bear and was just under the hide on the far side.

Todd,

If I can find one for you (I had a few before we moved to a new home) I will let you know and mail it out to you.

If I can't find one and you can be patient, I will shoot one into some media from which I can retrieve it and send it out. But probably not for a month or two.

Absolutely,

The folk on AR are a great bunch and the 600 OverKill crowd a particularly helpful "brotherhood" with Robgunbuilder the founding father.

Some day I hope to finally get my MRC PH in stainless steel on which someone will build a 600OK with SS barrel and gray laminate stock - the ultimate all-weather Brontosaurus-Basher.

I am working on becoming a member of the 600 OverKill fraternity. Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer. I plan to get a standard "working gun" version and it will be the nicest gun I will own - even if it is a field grade.
