Was in Cabelas today and there was several older Husky rifles on the used rack. Many were 9.3X64. My question is are these actions tough enough for a rebarrel to say 404j? Thanks, JC

If they are the large rings the should work, with some rail,face and ramp mods.

Are you certain about the caliber? Most older Huskies were 9.3 x 57 and a relative few in 9.3 x 62. The earlier '96s were were marked "9.3 Kaliber" without a case-length designation. Any factory Husky in 9.3 x 64 is either a relatively new rifle and fine for a 404.

I think your right, they were 9.3 x 57. There were two 8x57 and the rest were 9.3 x something. I gotta go back in a couple of days to pickup a feeder that they had to order for me and I'll check them out. Does $450 sound resonable as for as price? These are all older with flip over saftey. Look alot like 98 actions.

A couple of years ago I picked up one of the 9.3x62 husky's that was built on the large ring FN M-98 action. If that is what you have it should work fine for a 404.
I initially thought about having mine re-barreled until I came to my senses. The 9.3x62 is such a great round and useable anywhere.

I had a Husky 9.3X57 converted to 9.3x62.
It is a FN M98 not a 96 and would be fine for 404.

$450 is about right for one in very good condition these days. They started out at $275 a few years ago and have been climbing steadily as supply diminishes.
