Late Model Mauser
Does anyone have any experience with the new 03 Mauser rifles or the new 98 Magnum? They look pretty slick and I wanted to determine if anyone on these boards had any experience with these rifles. The 03 has interchangeable barrels, but the 98 is rather traditional.

I looked over couple of 03s at Greentop Sporting Goods store. They sure look slick, and those modular qd rings seem like gems to me. I'm not sold on that box magazine with all those cartridge calibers stamped on it.
That 98 Magnum seems dreadfully expensive. Not sure why someone would pick that over Heym 'Express' bolt gun, or whatever they're called now. bewildered Heym is a better name then Mauser.

I can't seem to find an MSRP for the 98 Magnum. The 03 looked slick, but do wonder if it is too slick.

I looked at a 98 in a few months ago and it seems like the price was in the $10k-$12k range.

Don´t forget, the new Mauser rifles aren´t build at Mauser Werke Oberndorf. The new M98, M98 Magnum and the M03 are made by Blaser /Isny CRYBABY I never saw a new M98 at the shooting range, the price is to high, in Germany ~ € 9.000, without extras. For this money you get two Heym light express rifles.
The M03, I´m sorry to say, it´s a well made rifle, all parts made of solid steel ( not like the R93 with aluminium). It´s here not the most sawn rifle, but it comes. I shoot a 8,5x63 befor a few weeks and the accuracy was excellent, 3 rounds at 100m give one hole.
For me, the new Mauser rifles aren´t mine, I´m a Mauser Oberndorf fan. It was a black day for me, as Mauser sold the name "Mauser Jagdwaffen" to my archenemy Blaser/Isny. Frowner
