M70 375 to 458 Lott conversion
Same case head, same magazine. How much should it cost to do a nice job with this conversion?

to farm this out, and done well, with shipping and fudge factor

barrel
$175
sights
200
barrel lug
50
caustic blue OR rust blue
$100 to 500
other gunsmith work
$200
625 on the cheap...

or

[Eek!] Well, $675 is more than I expected, but I was neglecting to price in the extra recoil lug and sights. I suppose I would miss them if they weren't there.

Left handed 458's are next to nonexistent and not a cheap solution for me in any event.

I will be building in about 6 months, and I was interested in what the cost of choosing the wrong caliber at the outset would be. Around $675 I guess.

Thanks,

You are probably better off talking to a gunsmith directly for this project. Give Dennis Olson a call if you do not have one in mind. He is a real big bore specialist and his prices are very reasonable. Good luck.

Don't forget the desirability of a deeper mag box and new bottom metal ($325 to $450) and a new stock to accomodate that mag box and bottom metal.
