45-70 loads for browning 1885 high wall
Hi,

looking to get the most out of this rifle with some high BC bullets (e.g. barnes 350)

anyone have data for the loads compatible w/ the browning 1885 hi wall/Ruger 1 (but not the lever guns)???

also, the barnes originals look like they could be interesting with this, but I haven't seen them anywhere, any sources?

thanks!

I use 51 grains of reloader 7 and a 350 grain Hornady round nose in my High wall. The recoil is pretty stout.

I've used 51.5 gr 3031 with either a 350 gr Sierra bullet. It has wonderful accuracy- crisp recoil though. Its a good load for deer etc. I have used it with good success.

Please, work your load up......don't just jump into mine.......for safety's sake.

I have also used a very heavy load of 53.5 gr 3031 and the Speer 405 sp.....this load is very close to 458 win performance. I have used it in my Ruger #1, Marlin 1895, and the Browning.
