The Moss berg is one option if and when we try a new rifle.. It looks like a winner, filling in the niche that Ruger left with their Alaskan 375Ruger.

Thought the .375 Ruger cartridge was supposed to be dead by now...

Anyone that thinks the "Three Seven Five Ruger"(spelled out and put in quotations so it looks as old and vaunted as the ill conceived BELTED original)is dead/on life support obviously doesn't acknowledge the trend away from the useless/unnecessary belt(except for straight walled cases of course). Never served a useful purpose on a bottleneck cartridge, never will. I applaud Mossberg for offering such a well designed, capably powerful cartridge, in an aesthetically pleasing, and affordable package. Unlike the trend with other manufacturers, the price point of this rifle did not go up with the power level of the cartridge it was chambered for. I would think the members of this forum, and readers of this particular thread would welcome any avenue of decent quality that would encourage new membership into the fascinating world of Big Bore Rifles(even though the originators of the "Three Seven Five" classified it as a medium bore). Who knows, the newly initiated might even learn a little about the history of cartridge development that you all seem to be clinging so steadfastly to. In fact, I have a prediction to make. I believe that before I(I am 49), and many of you are returned to dust, that the Ruger version will replace the originals as THE "Three Seven Five", and probably the "Four One Six", of choice. And for all of you still clinging so heartily to the past, not to worry. After several generations of dominance of the .375 Ruger, who knows, there may be a revival of old classic, obsolete cartridges that include the .375 H&H and your great, great grandchildren will get to know and love it as you did!

By the way, I personally own a .375 H&H and a .416 Rigby, and have probably killed more animals with them than you have, so no casting of stones from the peanut gallery that I don't know what I'm talking about. Just saying.

The 375 Ruger is a great cartridge and I do applaud Mossberg.

And I might end up using a 416Ruger someday, happily but it won't replace what a handloaded 416 Rigby can do.

2 things Ruger could do to spur sales of a gteat cartridge....the .375 R

Put it in a rifle without that ugly brake

It's an -06 length action.....price point should be the same as a standard long action

I will have a .375R one day....but the rifle will need to be a 2011/12 Hawkeye
