.375 ownership poll

mstarling.375 ownership poll
Guess I'd better fess up ... 1 M70 SS Classic in .475 H&H and 1 1909 Argentine in .376 Steyr.
Haven't finished the bluing on the little Argie but am happy the the chambering and the light weight. I will say that it is LOUD as hell with 225 gr Hornadys when driven with 65 gr of H335.

Slowpoke SlimI just have one 375 H&H on a Win mdl 70. I also have an early German Weatherby in 375 Wby mag. Didn't see a way to vote for both in the poll, so just clicked on the H&H.

"...I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." Thomas Jefferson

gumboot458Having had a bunch of 375s but not having one @the moment. Perhaps I could write my wish list. 1st River #1 375 Whby. .that I used to own. It would be a perfact moose rifle. #2 another 375 Ruger Alaskan. It would be nice to get a green one this time. Already had all the other colors. .#3 a 378 Whby on a CZ 550 action. And last but not least an H+H Interarms Witworth Express. Just for blasting and general usefullness.
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

jmkI have owned four 375HH. Sako Finnbear, Remington 700SS, Sako 75 SS and today a Sako 85 SS. Sako is my favorite brand.
A little bit curious about Blaser R8 and the new Merkel Helix, but also afraid of becoming dependant of only one action with several barrels. If something goes wrong with the action, then I have no gun. Think what a nightmare if abroad stranded with a broken action, what to do with those extra barrels.
Beleive more in "traditional" guns.

NICK_AKGood Lord! When I cast my vote for the H&H the poll results popped up an' I read that the 375 Tayler had 76%. Turns out the evening's I.P.A.(s) were drying out my contact lenses.
-Back on topic, my 1953 model 70 has been one of my better purchases. Sitting there in a rack with a beat up post '64 stock, a bead blasted matte blue job to (attempt) to hide the pits, and a 20" cut-down barrel with a bore rougher than the surface of the moon. Shop was selling it as a "donor action". Went back a week later with a target sporting a 1/2 group at a 100yds. I wish I knew who owned it before me, as it's condition leads me to believe it has spent more time in the field than I ever will.
Have a good night, Nick

PatagonHunterWhat a nice rifle, Mr. ALF!
It seems to be made with a standard lenght Mauser 98. If it is, could you tell me how the modification of the action has been made? I am refering to the inside lenghtening of the action.
Thank you very much,
PH

500straightI have a Ruger M77 in .375 H&H and it is my favorite rifle and far above the rest. It has a heavy barrel and upgraded wood... very nice. It also is VERY accurate. Last summer, I clover-leafed three shots at 100 yards. This is true...you can ask my father he was there!!!!
