Mike375Most popular "big bangers" in new factory rifles?
For the sake of this exercise by "big banger" I mean the Rem Ultras or bigger if under 375 bore. I am interested to hear what you observe to be the most popular big banger choices
on the Forums in new factory rifles. So no rebarrels, rechambers etc., just new factory rifles but excluding the 45/70 and 450 Marlin
My list would be about like this:
300 Rem Ultra (well in front of everything else)
338 Rem Ultra
375 H&H
416 Rigby
416 Remington
30/378
458 Lott
375 Rem Ultra
7mm Rem Ultra
338/378

vapodogI see Winchester is offering a .404 Jeffery in their M-70. This took me by surprise!!!

vapodogALF, at $3,000 they are not likely to set record sales!!!!

MingbogoDid you leave out the 458 Winchester? Me think it is an excellent "entry level" 45 caliber big bore cartridge, especially for a newbie. On the other hand, the 375 H&H is probably the most popular factory chambered cartridge...

Most 458s purchased by forum members seem to be with a view to rechambering to 458 Lott. However, now that CZ is offering the 458 Lott perhaps the 458 will be quite rare for new sales.
A mate of mine who does not go on the forums put the question to me and I gave him my views as I posted but said I would ask for other observations. Do you think the popularity of new 458s on the forums comes maybe after 375 H&H?

MingbogoMike:
I do not know mate but I believe that only the hardcore big bore shooters will buy into the 458 Lott because it is not as easy to tame as other lesser calibers, especially in the light weight CZ 550. You maybe correct that the Lott will eventually overshadow the Winchester but only time will tell....

Mike375475Guy,
You don't think that a lot more 300 Ultras (and 338 Ultras) appear on the forum than 375 H&Hs?
Mike
Mike I reckon it would be in the big banger department the .375 H&H followed by the .458 win mag. Us blokes at the forum I do not feel are representitive of the rest of the shooting community as we are "gun nuts" or have a stronger interest in the hobby than some others.
