Sniper_408Info on the .700 BMGimp please.
Hello gentlemen,
I was wondering if you'll be so kind as to answer a few of my questions regaurding the .700 BMGimp:
1. What brass is being used for the cartrige? Since it's a belted case, it obviously can't be a necked-up .50 BMG case.....can it?
2. What is the cost of the brass before and after it's re-sized?
3. How many grains will the different bullet's for this cartrige be?
4. What is the expected fps of the intended bullet's?
5. How much ft-lbs. of energy is this cartrige expected to produce?
6. What is the type and cost of the action that will be used for this cartrige?
7. If I wished to create a falling block type action for this cartrige, who would I contact for the RnD, and pricing?
Any info you guy's could give me would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Has anyone here had a custom action built from the ground up, for a wildcat? If so, then what kind of costs be expected?

KarlI'll jump in but Ed hubel and RobGB are the ones you can get the most info from.
Yes it is 50BMG brass. 1000gn bullets, over 280gns of powder, 3000fps and 20,000ftlbs+.
Requires a 50BMG action. Custom actions from the ground up will usually cost you a lot more.
Do a search as well mate as there were many posts on it a few months back.
Karl.

MingbogoDon't know about the 700 BMGimp cartridge you mention but Dennis Olson from Montana has been building a 700 rimless nitro express using the 50 BMG casing and McMillan's action. Give him a call to learn more about it. Good luck.

GrandpasezSniper--Rob(Robgunbuilder) built the 700 BMG IMP
from 50 cal brass, and it doesn't have a belt.
It has small shoulder to headspace on and uses the
max length that he could get from the 50 cal
brass.. 1000 grains at over 3000 fps.He has
a rifle chambered, loads tested and hunted.
I built a straight belted version from 50 cal brass, full length called 700 HE.I got to build rifle yet, for it.
Rob and fritz454(John at Bridger Bullets) are building a scaled up Winchester
falling block for the 12 GA FH, that will work for
700 BMG IMP and 700 HE also, as well as other big
cases..Ed.
