500grains700 Nitro,
The .585 GMA is a 3" long .585 Nyati, but without the rebated rim. So you can get a full 2550 fps out of a 750 grain bullet, or you can get 2050 fps (577 NE velocity) at just a little more pressure than a 12 gauge shotgun produces.
I believe the .585 Africa Express is the one designed by Brad Ralston of South Africa. Sometimes Brad stops by the forum, so perhaps he can clarify.
I think the .585 Van Horne is another 3" .585 cartridge, but it's not too clear in my memory.

dakota45056Believe that Ed Plummer is building a .585 on a GMA action at AHR.

RNSThe Van Horne has the 505 rim and 3" long he is also doing a 600 Van Horne, I looked at Fred Wells version but I don't know how different it is.
The 585 African Express is a little longer than the 585 nyati

Brad_RolstonHi
Mike Roden explained to me that the 585 GMA was a 3.25 inch long version of the 585 Nyati , without the rebated head . He had a whole heap of Brass made by Bruce Bertram according to these specs .
