fourboreBook question: Dangerous Game Rifles, Terry Wieland
I need a 2nd book to increase my Amazon order so I qualify for free shipping. I was thinking of this title plus the ammo encyclopedia:

Dave BushI thought it was a pretty good book. If you are a double rifle guy, the historical information is pretty interesting. Terry is a big fan of the .458 Lott.

notlimThis book is pretty good, as stated lots of historical info on doubles, there's a fair bit of bolt stuff as well.-no real loading info.
Some nice pics of lots of rifles.
Another good book on the same lines is boddingtons "Safari Rifles", I have only read the first edition but I hear that the second edition is good as well. If I had to pick one as the better all around book it would probably be Boddingtons.
Another book with lots of info on dangerous game rifles is Doctari's "the Most Dangerous game" its really a book about buffalo hunting but he has lots of rifle info in there (with an obvious slant towards what he considers appropriate for Buff) - he includes lots of energy tables, recoil tables, suggested bullets and speeds etc... As well as all of the shot placement info for buff.
Any one of them is a good read and I read them all cover to cover as soon as I got them.
Good luck
Dan

fourboreThank you all for the replies. I will get this title.
I will definately consider the Boddington book for inclusion with this order or at a later time. Looking now....
I have noticed a few titles carry a hugh price. In the range of 200 to 800 dollars for what appears a modern book printed with ink on paper. I located found two of the Bodingtons books at 50 and one at 225. I will poke around some more.
Here is a hoot: Hunting Dangerous Game of Africa by Kinsley $707. Thats 707, not 700! You gotta love the internet.

Was that John Kingsley-Heath? If so, dang! I'll take less than that for my copy of that one. Read it once, kept me awake so I did not drool on it. Make me an offer!
