Can anyone suggest who made this stock? I am interested in one for a similar project. The photo is a GMA made 505 Gibbs from the Big Bore Productions web site.

That may or may not be a synthetic stock. I have not seen a synthetic with crossbolts before. It might be painted or coated wood. The presence of crossbolts would suggest it does not have an aluminum chassis.

You have me curious as well so hopefully someone can identify it.

If its off Big bore productions its prob. a Smithson gun..might check there.

Yup, it's mine, my gunsmith said he lost it in a fire, there is a small scratch on the left side, I'll PM my address so you can return it

I did take a look at the GMA and Smithson web sites, but neither make any mention of synthetic stocks they use. I was hoping I could get a lead here from a group of enthusiasts, rather than bothering these businesses.

I guess if no one can suggest anything, I will email big bore productions and ask them. It looks like several of the rifles in their videos use this synthetic stock pattern.

It may be a long shot, but I remember a stock company, think it was called Rimrock, that was connected to Borden Rifles. They made a stock that looked like the one in the picture.

May be a wild goose chase.

I have a .505 Gibbs made by GMA in an identical looking stock, although my stock is green. I understand that GMA made the stock specifically for their big bores. I got the rifle indirectly from Russell Marshall (bwanamrm). You might send him a note about the stock. He bought the rifle I have directly from GMA. Now GMA may have had someone build the stocks for them I do not know.

Mike thanks for your comments. That tends to indicate the stock was sourced by GMA, rather than a smith that sourced an action for a build. I might just send GMA an email and ask.

BTW - a very successful hunt by the looks of the report.

I have to say, it is a great stock. It is stouter than hell and seems to do a good job of soaking up recoil. Get in touch with GMA, I am about 80% positive that they do the stocks themselves or that is what I was told.

It looks like a GMA stock. They having a synthetic stock of their design produced for their big bores. They are as heavy as wood but are probably the toughest stocks on the market.

It's not a Rimrock or Borden, I have used many of those...I'm thinking GMA...as to the cross bolts anyone can install them in any stock..I see no reason to install them in a composite stock however as they perform no function on that material, other than cosmetics..

That picture is of a Ryan Breeding construction on a GMA action.
The reason I know this is that I own two such glass stocked 505 Gibbs done by Ryan Breeding with the same cross bolts.
