John GaltOrdering process for custom RCBS bullet seater in .458 for 500 gr. TSX - UPDATE
Hello AR Colleagues,
I am just about to order a custom bullet seater for my RCBS .458 Lott die, in order to seat Barnes TSX 500 grain bullets. It's around $22.00 to order and takes about two weeks. Anyone want to get in on an order?
My seater plug is 1/2" in diameter for reference, and I will be ordering directly from RCBS. Figured I'd ask here since they will be making me up one already and I could definitely have them make some more. I'm not looking to profit on this so if you're interested, send me a PM and I'll order you one and charge you a few bucks shipping, plus whatever RCBS charges then send it to you once I receive mine.
Thanks,
John

John GaltI should have been more specific- this isn't just calling them up and having one sent. They require me to send them three bullets and then create one custom based on the bullet profile. I figured that if any of you were on the fence about ordering one of these, I can do the leg work for you. I'm going to place the order tomorrow.
Thanks,
John

John GaltAll,
Figured I'd offer everyone an update on this, as I had never experienced ordering a custom seater from RCBS before. I placed the order for this back around January 11th this year and was told it would take 2-3 weeks... HA! I just received the seaters I ordered back then TODAY! I guess by 2-3 weeks they really mean about 10-11 weeks! I thought I'd share this with you all, in case you were going to reload a specific bullet profile for an upcoming hunt and you were relying on the information RCBS gave you regarding turn around time...
The seaters did come back looking great, however, and they match the bullet profile of these big .458 500 grain TSX bullets perfectly! I believe they also will match the 450 grainers and possibly the 350 grain bullets, although I'm not certain on those. They had me send 3 bullets to them, which they sent back fortunately, although one bullet is covered at the tip with some type of black compound, evidently used to match the profile to the seater exactly. I haven't messed with trying to remove it yet, but oh well- at least I have these back in my possession. I may have also done everyone else a solid, so to speak, as I bet you could call RCBS now and order these.

John GaltEric,
The seater that comes standard with the RCBS .458 Lott dies is profiled for flat-nose or wide meplat bullets and would not be compatible, at least in my experience, with the spitzer-shaped TSX bullets. YMMV.
