GadgeHave only tried a few flat-out loads so far [just to see how fast they'd go.......] 77.0gn AR2208 behind a 220gn FP Taipan, RWS LR primer, gave a consistent 2990 fps with no pressure signs. This load was slightly compressed.
So back off from there for a more useful load!

butchlocmy son used the 210 barnes x with 83 gr of 4350 in africa a bit ago. He was on plains game & it was sort of like a lightning bolt.

jackfishI have been loading the 225 grain Hornady Spire Point in my .375 H&H for a couple of years now. I talked with Lonnie Hummel from Hornady and he reported that the jacket on the 225 grain is the same thickness as that used in the 270 grain.
.375 H&H Magnum 24" barrel
225 grain Hornady Spire Point
Remington brass
CCI 250 primer
67 grains H4895 START LOAD
70 grains H4895 HUNTING LOAD
74.8 grains H4895 MAXIMUM LOAD
Apparently you could carefully substitute AR2206H for the H4895.
You learn something new everyday whether you want to or not.

Have you used this load on game? If so how did the bullet perform?

MacD37I only shoot one weight bullet in my 375s, a 300 gr soft, or solid, no matter what I'm hunting. It makes absolutely no sense to me to practice with a rifle useing a bullet that has a different trejectory, then the bullet used for serious hunting! In fact I use the heavy bullet exclusively in any rifle I hunt with. I find the perfect load with that bullet, and I can almost place that bullet with my eyes closed!

mikethebearI did load the speer 235 grain for my son to go elk hunting with my then Ruger #1 tropical. Results were like the hammer of Thor. I am sure I used RL15, but that has been at least 10 years ago. But I used the Speer book loading. Probably about 2800 fps.
I usually used the Remington green box cheapo 270 grain round nose. Wish I had that rifle and the Model 70 super express I sold back.

N E 450 No2I have used the Hornady 220 FP [the one designed for the 375 Winchester Lever Action],
over 60 grains of IMR 3031, and the 235 Speer over 60 and 64 grains of IMR 3031.
I have killed deer with both of these loads and they work great.
I also use them when I want to go "plinking" with my 375.
My brother has killde a pig with the 235 Speer and it worked great. Velocity should be around 2500fps if I remember correctly.

free_minerI shot some of them with 68 gr of 4895 which clocked 2800 fps and gave superb accuracy.
Having said that, I am with MacD37, buy some inexpensive 300's (or whatever you plan on using for the water buffulo) and learn the trajectory and get accustomed to the recoil

6_5X57I have used extensively 235 gr Speer bullets in my .375 to hunt red deers and boars (MV = 2850ft/s). The results have been always excellent and I have to say in driving hunting, even if you don't shoot the animals properly, in most of the cases were knocked down as if they were hit by a loades truck.

mstarlingHave loaded .375 H&H with 235 Speers at two velocity levels. Fast: 76.0 gr RL-15 yields 2935 fps. MAD: 11.7 ES: 34.5 Slower: 80.0 gr IMR 4350 yields 2611 fps MAD: 9.1 ES:27.3.
The fast load is incredibly consistent in my rifle. Has shot 0.28" groups!
Have killed whitetail with both loads. Both resulted pass throughs, but with bullet fragmentation and bent wound canals. As a result I cannot recommend this bullet for hunting.

PCI loaded the speer 235 gr bullets for a bit in my cz 550, but I found them to be harder than the Hornady 300 gr Round Nose................that bullet expands and breaks up very readily and leaves massive wounds on thin skinned game.........any way load was 72 gr of varget wlr primer win case behind the speer 235 gr bullet.
