Ruger is 1100.00. Winchester is 850.00 for the standard safari express but it is not chambered for the Rigby.

NielsHi people
I am about to buy a rifle for hunting Buffalo and large plainsgame. Since I allready own a 9,3 cal. the .375 is out of the question (I dont want to own two similar guns)
I am hooked on a .416xxx (probably Rigby)
I can get a very good deal on a new CZ. But to my taste and requirements for quality it will need a makeover, so the Ruger 77 is a possibility and so is the winchester 70.
or any other rifle with a suitable action.
The Heym Express is fantastic, to feel, handle and shoot, but too damn expensive.
I have learned that only Controlled feed actions will do for such a task. The CZ has a mauser magnum controlled feed action so it will work.
Do you have any other suggestions?
thanks in advance for your input.

LongShotRXLike you said, Ruger and Winchester if you want to keep the cost down. Serengeti is a step higher and Dakota is a step higher yet. Most folks that own the CZ rifles speak highly of them. Godd luck

NielsHi Chuck
It is difficult to compare budgets, 'cause CZ rifles are considered cheap (1000$) and rugers are not (3000$), over here. But let's say I have a medium budget that will keep me away from stuff that will break and malfunction.

500grainsSince you are on the European continent I would recommend the following rifles that are of good quality:
Heym Express Rifle (I have one and it shoots and handles great!)
http://www.heym-waffenfabrik.de/english/S_Buechs/LiBuechs.htmlReimer Johannsen mauser
http://www.johannsen-jagd.de/original Mauser, now in new production
http://www.mauserwaffen.de/english/m98m.htmDumoulin Herstal
http://www.dumoulin-herstal.com/Since you are impressed with the Heym, if you purchase a cz or winchester, you will be very disappointed in the quality. I suggest saving money for a little longer so that you can get a rifle that will make you happy for the next 30 years. Rugers are a slight cut above the win. and cz, but they have some weird design characteristics that a traditionalist like myself considers a flaw.
Alternatively you may want to consider a double rifle for dangerous game and use the 9.3 for plains game.

NielsHi 500grs.
Thanks for the links.
Yes I am very impressed with Heym, but it will never be a question of saving up just a little more.. it is just one of those guns that are out of reach. It will cost me apprx. the same amount as the hunt itself. A Heym Express is ... are you sitting down..?

10833$ or 65.000 Dkr.
How much is a Ruger, a Winchester and a CZ in the states?
